Quit Smoking Month Altogether Newsletter Day 9

Hi ,            Friday, Oct 9,  2009                     Send to a Friend

Day 9 of your Quitober Challenge.
Great to hear from the guys & gals at the UA below, but what about the other universities?

Quitober Says:
The Tobacco Conference in Darwin looks like it will bring smoking cessation to
the headlines once again. Good timing to have it in October... oops I mean Quitober!
If I had the funds I would have gone & told them the trials I have had to get this pilot going & the lack of assistance I have received, so far, from the governments & Cancer Councils. But, as it was pointed out to me by Stafford Sanders from Ash Australia, that I need to prove we are in this for the long haul rather than a fair weather type, which is a fair point.

  Your Say

Tracey from University of Adelaide says:
"Still going strong, had a couple of days where I ate everything

I could put my hands on but overall feeling pretty good about quitting."

Sue from University of Adelaide says:

"I am feeling very positive. I love the newsletters. I am reading Allen Carr’s book.

Instead of focusing on the misery I was sure I would suffer, I am consciously focusing on positive things. I am feeling VERY good about quitting.

Thank you Des and the team."

Nicholas from University of Adelaide says:

"Great to hear the newsletters are getting a bit easier …. The last 2 days for me

have been the hardest?? Not sure why but been having a lot more cravings …

still not faltered though !!

Feeling a bit better today … just keep looking at my TODAY band and take it

day to day… keep telling myself that I don’t need it!!I don’t want it!!
Well bring on DAY 8 and hopefully no cravings!! "

  Quit Smoking Tips

Tip 9 :                                                                                          *Tips supplied by Quitnet.com

 Begin at the Beginning...

FIRST THINGS FIRST... The more prepared and informed you are about your situation, the more likely your quit will succeed. Go through every option you have for getting information.
about tobacco addiction. Read up. Learn about the patch, gum, etc. Read people's posts on Twitter & Facebook. MAKE CONNECTIONS WITH OTHER EX-SMOKERS, participating in Quitober for example. Ask them what THEY did to quit, and how they stay quit now. You'll find your motivation to quit begin to build. It takes time (THE LENGTH OF TIME IS UP TO YOU), but don't fret; excessive worry about it could cause you to start to smoke again. YOU'LL GET OUT OF YOUR QUIT WHAT YOU PUT INTO
IT.
